Why is First United Security Bank changing its name?

Effective December 15 2014, First United Security Bank is changing its name to First US Bank, and a new logo will reflect this name. This change is a simple migration to our long-standing website address of www.firstusbank.com.  You have assurance from our Board of Directors and Executive Management Team that the Bank remains the same Ė a solid, strong, and enduring independent community Bank. The qualified and trusted team of employees and officers serving you financial needs has not changed. We will continue to deliver financial confidence and expertise to individuals and businesses seeking unique products designed to achieve your goals. We will continue to be focused on community-mindedness and customer service in our markets and in meeting your needs.

How will this affect me?

Our customers will not be negatively affected by this change. The letter of intent each customer receives will also be on our website for later review over a reasonable period of time from the date it is delivered by regular mail, along with these Frequently Asked Questions & Answers. We want our current customers to understand that we are still the same bank, just with an updated name.

Where can I go for answers to other questions I might have?

You are encouraged to call the branch nearest you or our main office at (334) 636-5424 with any additional questions you may have. During non-banking hours, you may access the Contact Us tab on our website and send a message electronically. These messages are monitored daily, and we will respond to you as quickly as we can.

When will this change take place?

At close of business on Friday, December 12, 2014, First United Security Bank systems will be set to switch to First US Bank by Monday morning, December 15, 2014. Statements and customer-facing documents and transactions will reflect the new name as of December 15, 2014. Permanent bank signs will not be changed by this date, but will be undergoing changes in the months following.

Will my old checks and debit card still be good?

Yes, you may use your current checks until they run out. Any orders placed on or after December 15, 2014 will be printed with our new name, First US Bank. Debit cards will be replaced as they expire. Your debit card or commercial credit card will still be effective until the date you activate any new cards you receive upon expiration date or for any reason. Itís important that you understand this name change does not affect any critical numbers like our routing number, customer account numbers, debit card numbers, or any other number affecting drafts or regularly recurring deposits or debits from your account.

Is the bank being sold?

No, your bank is not being sold. Is the board of directors changing?

No, our board of directors is elected annually. Many of our long-standing board members have been re-elected for many years. With a few exceptions of retiring members and new members our board will continue to consist of a stable and solid team of professionals. Is the holding company of the Bank changing?

No. This change in the Bankís name does not affect our holding company name. It remains United Security Bancshares, Inc. and is publicly traded on NASDAQ under the symbol: USBI.

What is Phishing?

Phishing is the act of sending an e-mail to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and bank account numbers, that the legitimate organization already has. The website, however, is bogus and set up only to steal the userís information.
